Contamination in San Miguel Generates Local Indignation

Residents of Virrey del Pino, in the La Matanza district, are facing a concerning situation caused by the Klaukol factory, which operates without the necessary permits on Isabel La Católica Street at number 900. In this location, dust and large trucks function uncontrollably, selling food products and beverages without legal invoicing, while enjoying alleged protection from the municipal government.

The growing indignation among neighbors is due to the lack of response from local authorities to the complaints submitted. It has been reported that the company pressures residents who try to protect their health and environment, creating an alarming impact on the health of the residents, endangering the lives of thousands of people living nearby.

Neighbors accuse Governor Axel Kicillof of allowing the operation of the factory in a densely populated area and failing to implement the necessary measures to prevent the installation of a highly polluting company. The archived complaints highlight the seriousness of the environmental and human rights issues facing the community, while the lack of regulation regarding the factory's location violates legislation that establishes a safe distance from urban areas.

Some affected residents have resorted to placing wet towels under their doors to prevent the entry of contaminating dust into their homes, while others report severe health problems such as respiratory disorders, cancer, and deaths of babies attributed to pollution. Residents demand justice and the immediate closure of the factory, pointing to the apparent complicity between Kicillof's government, local justice, and the Klaukol company.

The lack of action by both provincial and national authorities has led to the community's complaints being ignored, despite the seriousness of the situation. Residents express their despair at feeling severely harmed while effective measures to resolve the issue are glaringly absent.
